A Co-Design Approach for Advances in Software and Hardware

The Co-design Approach for Advances in Software and Hardware (CoDAASH) is a research grant for Computational Chemistry and Physics Applications funded by the United States Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR).

CoDAASH focuses on the understanding of the relationship between high performance hardware platforms and applications in materials science, chemistry and physics.  The goal of this hardware-software co-design approach is to enable computation at extreme scale in the era of many-core, highly heterogeneous platforms, utilizing the hardware components (e.g., CPU or GPU) that perform best for the type of computational task under consideration.

Other institutions that participate in the CoDAASH project are the Iowa State University (project lead), the University of El Paso Texas, and the University of California at San Diego.
